Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Platd is not directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Before creating an account, all users are required to confirm their date of birth through a mandatory age gate. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that data immediately. What Data We Collect

Account data: email address, password (hashed, never stored in plaintext), display name, age, gender, username
Profile data: profile photo, cooking preferences (cuisines, dietary needs, skill level), character selection
Usage data: recipes swiped, recipes liked, cook log entries, AI Chef messages sent, fridge scan results, cook streaks
Device data: device type, OS version, app version
Analytics data: in-app events (sign-up, swipe, scan, AI prompt) stored in Firebase Firestore
Photos: images you upload to cook log entries, stored on Cloudinary CDN
Social data: followers, following relationships, notifications sent and received

How We Use Your Data

To create and maintain your account
To personalise your recipe feed based on your preferences and swipe history
To provide AI Chef responses tailored to your pantry and goals
To track your cook streak and log history
To enable social features (follow, notifications, friend feed)
To process and validate your subscription through RevenueCat and Apple / Google Pay
To improve app features via anonymised usage analytics
To enforce our Terms of Service and detect abuse

We do not use your data for advertising targeting or sell it to data brokers.

Subscriptions & Billing

Platd offers an optional auto-renewing subscription ("Platd PRO") processed exclusively through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Subscriptions settings.
Unused portions of a free trial are forfeited when you purchase a subscription during the trial period.
We do not have access to your full payment card details.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (via Settings → Delete Account), we permanently delete your Firestore profile, cook log, and social data within 30 days. Cloudinary-hosted photos are deleted within 14 days of account deletion. Anonymised analytics events (no UID) may be retained for up to 12 months for product improvement.

Firebase Authentication for secure credential management (passwords never stored in plaintext)
Firestore Security Rules restricting data access to authenticated users only
HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit
Cloudinary signed uploads for photo assets

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify affected users in the event of a data breach as required by applicable law.

Your Rights

Correct inaccurate data via the Profile settings screen
Delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account
Opt out of analytics by deleting your account
Export your data upon written request (response within 30 days)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is sold or disclosed (we do not sell data) and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify users via an in-app alert or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
